Thank You to Those Who Have Served

This image was submitted as a part of a photography contest on the Pioneer Woman website. I encourage you to hop on over and check out the rest of the pictures. The pictures definately make you think about and appreciate all of the people who have donated their time and lives to allow us to celebrate Memorial Day in the United States they way we do!
Thank you for all that you do! Words can never express how much our country owes you for your sacrifices!
Happy Memorial Day!

Fashion Friday

Well in honor of Sex and the City, I thought I would do my Fashion Friday post on what the girls wore to the premiere in NYC on Monday. I can't believe how stunning they all look. They each choose an outfit that fits both them and their character perfectly. Even though they all look amazing Sarah Jessica Parker looks outstanding in this bright yellow dress. It screams glamorous and her lighter hair color compliments her skin tone and the dress perfectly.

Oh Kristen Davis...how similar our styles are...I love the way Charlotte dresses in Sex and the City. It is the type of style that I love and try to have...simple, classic, timeless but with just enough pop to make it trendy. The dress Kristen Davis wore on Monday is exactly that!
And now for a fashion NO........

What in the world is Kesha wearing in this picture?!?!? It is absolutely hideous. I do not appreciate her wearing the American flag as shorts. Either her stylist has gone off the wire or she doesn't have one....UGH!
Well that is all....Have a great weekend!

It is Almost Time

In less than 26 hours, I will be sitting in my chair awaiting the preview of the new Sex and the City movie. I cannot wait! It is hard to believe that it has been two years since the first time I ever saw Sex and the City...yes, I didn't see it until the first movie came out. Never watched it on t.v....nothing! However, I feel in love at first sight. The clothes, the shoes, the boys, the drama, and most importantly the friendship.

I am a little worried that rotten tomatoes hasn't rated the movie very well, but I am sure I and the rest of the true SATC fans will love it. Bring on Friday at 9:10 p.m.!!!

RUN....Don't Walk!!

Run, fly, skip...I don't care how you do it, but move quickly as today is the start of Nordstrom's half - yearly sale. Typically, I just longingly gaze at items on their website, since their prices are a little higher than what a graduate student can afford. But this morning I checked out some of their new sale stuff and the prices are just right. Here are a few items I found:

Let's start with coats:

I love the look of this red trench coat...simple, yet stunnning. Only $69.90

I am in need of a simple fleece after my K-State one got stole this fall. And this price is hard to pass up! $59.90

Dresses:

I really want a simple black sheath to wear with a cardigan for conferences and meetings, this looks just perfect.

This red color is perfect year round to add a pop of color to your work day.

This color is called "rose", but it looks coral to me and I think that is the best color for summer. Plus this flowy design screams hot summer nights!

Tops:

Now, the main reason I am looking at tops is for engagement pictures. I love the white top and this blue top below. Yes, I realize they are the same top just in different colors.

Shoes:

I have been searching for months trying to find the perfect pair of nude pumps. These look very classic and for $58 a girl can't complain.

Not sure how I feel about this pair, I like it but think it is not as versatile as the pumps above.

Well, what are you doing still reading my blog...run to your nearest mall and check out this sale. Or if you are like me and the nearest store is over six hours away get online ASAP.

One month

Wooohooo!!! Alex and I have been engaged for one month! Hard to believe how fast time flies by, but before we know it our wedding will be here. Well, that is if we actually set a date but that is currently not in our control. However, we do know the wedding will either be June 11, 2011 in Manhattan, KS or September 3, 2011 in Bismarck/Mandan, ND. We have reception venues and churches all line up, but we are waiting until I know my graduation date before we set a date in stone. Hopefully, I will know that in the next three weeks!

New favorite song or at least part of it...

So, I definitely have my weekly TV obsessions. They include Gossip Girl and 90210 off of the CW and Cougar Town, Grey's Anatomy, and Private Practice on ABC. Typically, I don't get to watch them actually on TV, but thanks to the Internet I can usually catch up over the weekends. I love technology!! Anyways, about two weekends ago I was catching up on 90210 and during the episode they sang the song "One More Time". Listen to it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EP2-V73JxCU. I am completely in love with the song, but the full version hasn't been released and nobody is sure when it will be. Bummer! I think the song is fun and upbeat, something great for the summer or to run to. Hopefully, a full length version will be released soon.

Save the Dates

After cruising some of my favorite blogs this weekend, I came across a huge discovery...Shutterfly now offers stationary and books for weddings! Their wedding store includes wedding websites, save the dates, wedding thank you cards, wedding labels, guest books, etc. Check it out here http://www.shutterfly.com/wedding/index.jsp. These save the dates are a few of my favorites off of their site. I love the idea of something simple with an engagement photo or two on it. Plus, if we add a magnetic strip to the back it could be a great magnet for someone's fridge!
However, one problem with Shutterfly is you can't change much with their templates. So, what you see is what you get. I think our main wedding color will be navy and not of their templates includes a navy background. However, maybe that will come in the future! If not these serve as great ideas and maybe if I ever figure out photoshop, I could design something simple like this myself. Oh a girl can dream...

Another one bites the dust...

Well, another semester of graduate school is finally under my belt. Yay!! Since I am a very competitive person, I like to have competitions with my self. One competition involves my GPA. In high school, I graduated with a 3.83 GPA...not too bad, but not great either. Last year, I graduated from undergrad with a 3.97 GPA. I was a little disappointed in this GPA, since my B came from an awful Accounting I teacher. I find it interesting that I got a B in Accounting I, but a semester later I managed to get a 98% in Accounting II. I would think that if I didn't learn all of the key concepts in Accounting I then I shouldn't have done so well in Accounting II, but that is another story about how the Business College at K-State is a joke!

Anyways, back to my competition. So, I clearly had a much higher GPA in college than I did in high school. Well, when I came to graduate school I decided to keep the competition going, however, this one is a little more challenging since the only way I can win is to get a 4.0. I thought I was going to lose the challenge this semester due to Biochemistry III (yes, that is a 3 as in I have now taken THREE biochemistry courses...ridiculous?!?!). I started the semester well, but my third test didn't go so well (yes, Alex maybe I should have studied) and I lowered my grade by over 7% (oops!). So, I thought my chances of a 4.0 were blown out the water. However, grades were posted on Wednesday and when I looked yesterday I did well enough on the final that I managed to get an A in the class. I got A's in all of my other courses as well, so it looks like I am still in the competition. I think I only have one more really hard class left for my master's degree, so hopefully I can accomplish my goal.

Welcome!

After debating whether or not to start a blog, I have finally bit the bullet! Alex helped me come up with the name since we are hoping that once we get married the blog will be a great way to keep our family and friends updated on our life. In the meantime, I plan to use the blog to share wedding ideas and other random thoughts with my mom and whoever else decides to follow along. Please ignore the ugly blog template for now….I am not good with technology but I will be trying to do something more eye pleasing!
